Recruits Baseball Donates Their Time and $2,500 to the Miracle League of Michigan
Recruits Baseball Donates Their Time and $2,500 to the Miracle League of Michigan Recruits Baseball teams took the field on Thursday, June 25, to show support and lend a hand in a baseball game at the Miracle League of Michigan field in Southfield, MI. The Recruits also held a bottle drive and donated $2,500 to the Miracle League to help build a new concession stand and restroom at the field.
Through the two innings of play the Miracle League teams -- the Cardinals and the Reds -- showed off their skills on the "Million Dollar" handicap accessible field. Miracle League team members were partnered with Recruits buddies who provided encouragement and, if needed, assistance in hitting the ball and running the bases -- every player is given an opportunity to hit the ball and score a run.
It was a great night of baseball and the Recruits got as much out of it as the Miracle League players. "That was so fun," said Aaron Downing, Recruits 10U player. "I can't wait to do it again."
"We're honored that the Miracle League gave our boys the opportunity to play ball with their athletes on this amazing field," said Tim Williams, president, Recruits Baseball Organization. "Recruits Baseball is founded on developing the total player, both their baseball skills as well as their character. This gives us the chance to give back while doing something we love. We look forward to continuing our involvement with the Miracle League."
The Miracle League of Michigan, a program of Easter Seals of Michigan, provides children with disabilities an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. It is Michigan's first baseball field for children with any physical or mental disability. For more information visit: www.michiganmiracle.org. .
